Guilin Day 2 - 19 December 2009

Day 2! We visited Longsheng Rice Terraces or also known as LongJi Terraces Field. The Longji Terraces are located in the southeast of Longsheng County. The terraced fields are built along the slope winding from the riverside up to the top of mountain, the highest part being 880 m in elevation while the lowest part 380 m in elevation. The terraces look like great chains and ribbons as they wind from the foot to the top of the hills.

Except the famous known Ping’an Zhuang Village, there is another unknown Jinkeng Rice Terrace, which is home to Yao Minority. March to November are the best time for visiting and taking photos. Unfortunately, when we went in December, the field was dry and no plantation due to winter. Scenery was not as good as when there is plantation.

Reached the *base* of the terrace field and after lunch at this restaurant, we had to climb up the hill about 20 mins. Imagine, hill climbing during WINTER and yeah, don't bring any sweater because you will be sweating like crazy!

Really the authentic China food... can you see steamed sweet potato? Haha..

Their silky black hair or also known as longevity hair. Wonder why their hair is so black? One of the reasons : They use the rice water to wash their hair and also, living in such place, no MSG at all in their food! Try this, perhaps you might get such blackie hair... =)

Dried Lizard?? Used as medication...

Half way climbing.. tired, so snapped picture!

Tough life oK! So, don't complain if you are earning few thousands in office just by sitting down and moving your hands! Think of people like this and be thankful for what you have now. A little extra work, and people start complaining. But, can the people here complain? I think to carry this heavy wood up, they only earn few cents!

Mom and daughter tired of climbing... so... pay pay pay. 60RMB for a return ride!

Winter look ~ and this place is best visit during their plantation season.

Finally! Tired tired tired... still, Mount KK Worst. This is nothing compared to Mount KK. Haha... That's what we did for the whole day in LongSheng.

Bathrobes ~ Preparing ourselves for Hot Spring! Don't think too much oK! =P
