How to make chicken stock!

The chicken stock that my MIL makes taste really delicious! It's so pure and healthy and has such a fragrant smell. And she packed nicely into few packets and when we wanted to cook them, just defrost and melt them with a low fire and add in some mee, salt, eggs, and any ingredients that you want and it can be really delicious! So, I learn this recipe from her...very simple!

Ingredients:
1) A bunch of carrots
2) A bunch of celery (if you do not have plenty of chicken bones, do not add too much celery)
3) Chicken bones (used up about 4 full size chicken carcass, add more if you have bigger pot)
4) 5 big onions

Steps:
Dump all the ingredients in a big pot and boil with slow fire as long as you like. I boiled until those bones were soft and became tasteless. Approximately about 5 hours.

And the mee soup that I cook with the chicken stock! So delicious.....

Make sure you drink the soup until finish because it contains natural chicken stock and not the artificial MSG. You can add any extra ingredients that you like, eg fishballs, mushrooms, cabbage, carrot for color, eggs, crab stick... if you add none of those also nvm cause the soup alone is already so tasty! =)

And these packs of chicken stock will be used when I'm back from work late, and yet I can have such a healthy meal at home! Try this and you will have a good long life health, with a big Salary cause you had the whole bunch of "celery". Haha! Store these packs in the freezer, that big pot of mine can make up to 4 packs of chicken stock. It's a lot!

A Dramatic Shopping

We were in Jusco yesterday for groceries shopping after our dinner. While looking and searching for my favourite FOX sweets at one corner of the Jusco, I heard few elephants steps (ok, maybe I shouldn't say it's elephants cause elephants can't run, hmmm... ok, name it "EARTHSHAKING STEPS") and I just ignore thinking maybe those kids have nothing better to do and they enjoy running around in the shopping mall. Perhaps the sweets section in Jusco is more tempting than the earthshaking steps.

However, I felt something wrong when I heard few screams and it seemed to be a big mess at the other corner of the Jusco where I was standing. By the time I stood up and look around, Jus was already kei poh-ing near the incident. How can he ignore me? LOL... anyway, I looked around and all eyes were looking at one direction : guard + thief scene. Some even took out their digi cam to capture shots/videos. 3 Jusco security guards were chasing after a thief and said "Jangan Lari! Jangan Lari" and I was already started to panic eventhough I was still quite far away from the scene. What if the thief suddenly take out a gun or knife or whatever and yes, I watched too much thriller movies as my imagination started running wild.

Everyone was panic during the incident and there was one guy with a trolley chasing after the thief as well. Maybe he stole his wallet? I don't know... The incident ended very fast, few seconds after I saw the running chasing scene, the thief was already caught red-handed. Kudos to the three security guards! After that I quickly grab the stuffs I wanted to buy and then left the shopping mall as fast as I can.

This dramatic event didn't end just like that. And thank you for the Jangan Lari Jangan Lari scene, I dreamt of robbery case last night!!! In the dream, I saw one thief stole my friend's purse and she started chasing after the thief. Few guards joined in and shouted "Jangan Lari Jangan Lari".... SIGH.

So, if you have nothing better to do... dun think of shopping or whatever. Just stay at home guai guai.... =)

Chawan Mushi with new cawan ..

We went to Daiso Japan and I saw these cups used to cook chawan mushi just like in those Japanese restaurant. Interested and I bought two cups, hopefully the texture is as good as the one I had in the Sushi Zanmai (my fav Japanese restaurant).

I just love chawan mushi but I wonder what extra ingredients they added inside, is it miso? I don't know.. I wish I'm a chef now. Seriously... if I have the extra $$ I will definitely enroll myself in culinary arts. It's interesting....

Surprisingly, with these cups, the steamed egg turned out to be so good. I don't even have to control the fire, control the lid of the kuali or even ensure that the amount of water is just nice.

With these magic cups, all I need to do is :
1) Add some hot water in the cup to melt the salt and pepper, otherwise it will sink at the bottom undissolved.
2) Then, add in some cold water about half of the cup.
3) Crack 1 egg for 1 cup. (Tips : Don't crack the egg and then only add water, because thru this act you will create bubbles and then you won't have silky steam egg)
4) Slowly stir using one side of the chopstick. Be as gentle as you can so that you don't create bubbles while stirring.
5) Add in whatever that you like to add in (eg, sliced chicken breast/mushroom/crabstick)
6) Cover the cup's lid and then put to steam at high heat for 8-10mins.. KAO TIM!

I love the end result because the measurement is just so ngam that I don't have to worry whether I added too much water or will it turn out to be so rough on the surface. Indeed, this is a good investment! Only RM5 per cup... get one now!! =)

The only ma fan part is to wash the cups but luckily, I have a *dishwasher* always ready to clean up the dishes after we're done with meals. Thank you Jus! =)
