Sabah 26 - 28 June 2010

Our trip to Sabah this time was not to climb Mount KK, but rather having a nice seafood paradise experience. As if we can't get enough of seafood in Klang and have to fly all the way to Sabah. Well, being geographically surrounded by seas on three sides, Sabah is blessed with an abundance of fresh and cheap seafood. If you're planning to bring home frozen items such as tiger prawns, sea cucumber, and a wide variety of fishes such as garoupa and snapper, you can have them neatly packed to bring on your flight (of not more than 12-hour long) with ease and convenience!Let's see how cheap the seafood can be.... =)

We stayed at Promenade Hotel Sabah and this hotel is easily accessible to Palm Square, Plaza Warisan, beach.. and all these by walking distance. If you plan to go to Sutera Harbor, then take a taxi which cost us about RM10 per trip.

Sorry for the dark view... forgot to on the lights. Hehe...

And the view from our window..... nice view. And I jokingly asked Justin if we can swim over to the island there. And he said YES. Wow....... cita-cita tinggi!

Nice? But still Eastin Hotel at Penang is the best among all!

We took off from LCCT at 9.45am and landed at 12.15pm. Upon arrival, we went to this Ocean Seafood Village which is just next to our Promenade Hotel and is actually owned by them. So, expect the price to be slightly expensive yeah...

The abundance of living sea creatures...

Abalone!

Crab!

Lobster!

This was the common appetizer served in every seafood restaurants in Sabah. I believe Sabah is rich in papayas too... You just can't believe it. Unlike in Klang, they serve you kacang. But in Sabah, they serve you these!

Good for wedding dinner/lunch.... such a high class restaurant.

Thai style chicken ....

Butter prawn .... I like this sooo much!

Stir fry clams with ginger and onion leaves...

Home made beancurd.. stuffed with meat.

Steam trout ... yummy yummy!!

This was already a BOMB for us just on the first day and also our first meal in Sabah. Usually people will reserve the best for the last.. but... haha. Can't expect this restaurant to be that expensive!

We had evening walk along the beach area, nearby Warisan Square and few minutes walk from Hotel too. Look at the abundance of grilled seafood, but I think they were good for photo taking, experience and not good to eat. If you have a good stomach, then go for it. Not really hygienic as I can see.

Looks tempting rite... but I don't dare to try. I love my stomach! Haha....

Weather was kinda hot and thus, we stopped at ice kacang stall.

Can't believe that they put macaroni as one of the ingredients in the ice kacang. Special.

Food were still not digest in our tummy and time passed quickly and it was already dinner time! We walked again to the so called town and got *cheated* by the map that says Hawker Centre. When we reached the so called *Hawker Centre* according to the map.... the hawker centre is actually a seafood hawker centre. LOL. Means dinner is seafood again.........................

I wonder why they rear the mantis prawn in the bottle and according to the uncle, this is to avoid them fighting. Is it true? I don't know... later I will Google up. Hahaha.

Fried belacan vege... I like this!

Steam prawn with wine and ginger.... when the seafood is too fresh, steam it to taste the 100% of sweetness and freshness.

Salted egg crab..... delicious!

Steam fish with soy sauce.....

The after! So clean that you can't imagine because this fish alone cost RM120. Thus, eat everything except the eyes, face and bones. Hahaha. We spent about RM200 again for this meal. And in conclusion, seafood in Sabah ain't that cheap rite. I guess we had enough of seafood in Sabah and no more seafood for tmr!

On the 2nd day, we went to Skyline church at Sutera Harbor Resort.. and after church, we walked around the resort. Every corner that we stepped, we were just wow wow wow. The resort is absolutely nice, elegant, refreshing, awesome... and the rest you name it!

I just love the pool so much. The built in is just like Sunway Lagoon... If I ever go to Sabah again, this will be the choice of hotel that I will stay. But, the only problem is food! Only taxi can solve your food problem and not your legs....

Back to our hotel and at 6pm, there was 40% off for all cakes. Being a cake lover, how could I resist such temptation, even though I was super full and I still want to stuff as much cake as I can. LOL.

Hazelnut

Durian cake

Oreo Cheese Cake

Saw these two drinks in the Hotel's fridge and didn't know Gardenia brand produces drinks as well. Did you see any of this in KL?

The trip was really nice, relaxing and well stuffed with plenty of seafood. Really enjoyed it, as long as I get out of the city. Haha. Where will be the next trip then? Next year? Hopefully as now, house renovations already made us so dry and broke. Still, God is good and He is a provider! We will never have lack..... =)

Cilantro Sunway Students - Food Tasting!

The students in Cilantro Culinary Academy at Sunway had their final exams for Diploma and they needed people to support their practical before they proceed to training at Hotel and later on pursue with their Degree. That was the reason why we were there! We were there for food tasting and to support the students, all their hard work all this while. It was not a free food tasting, but pay RM28 for a four course meal. =)

The students were busy preparing the dishes for the customers....

The restaurant look in Cilantro, Sunway.

And this was how they arrange the cutleries... Felt a bit funny because the table seemed to be fully occupied with fork and spoon and where is the place to put my main course then? Haha.. anyway, it's ok.

Not sure what was the flavour of this drink as no menu was served.

Fried Wantan.... I can say it was nice! =)

Pumpkin soup.....

Our main course... deep fried fish served with some tomatoes, pastas...

Dessert...

Overall, the food tastes good and I think I enjoyed the most is the first and the last dish. Haha....
Anyway, kudos to the students there... you guys were great because I didn't even know how to cook such nice food! All da best in your future and keep going!! =)
