The Vege Tales!

I'm just so amazed when I started to compile all the veges that I've successfully trained Justin to munch on! Huge pats to me.. and more pats to Justin, the successful-vege-eater! Hahaha.... I just can't believe, it's a lot! Really really a lot. In my mind it was like only that few types of vege I can/always/must buy from Jusco, but when I started to compile... it's really alot!

Here's the story of how I slowly introduce from the tiniest, less green to the thickest and greenest vege!

First of all, when we first dated... he used to throw all the green vege to me. Not only green, but the no color vege (eg, cabbage) also passed all the way from the other plate onto my plate. This is critical rite? It's ok... I set a goal and I will train him with vege, but of course, I won't be that cruel to start off with the thickest greenest broccoli! So, I introduce this no-leafy taste of vege which is Bayam/Chinese Spinach! The trick is to stir fry with lots of marinated sliced chicken breast. He accepted it... but I hate this vege because it takes a lot of hardwork! Honestly, I'm lazy... haha. To really clean this vege is a hard job! Harder and more stressful than working in office. No joke, I just don't like the tedious job of checking every leaves and ensure no white spots.. and then rinse it many many times to remove the soil. I've then set the next aim, to introduce the less hassle vege!

So this is the one! No hassle at all.. just soak and soak and soak! The initial trick is to fry this cabbage with egg. It tasted really good and he absolutely love it... so done! The next vege in line..

This iceberg lettuce.... sap sap sui, no problem introducing especially when you fry with lots of garlic. =)

Chinese cabbage! This one is totally out.. but i just dump in the soup. At least if he doesn't like the lembik style of it, the nutrients are all in the soup already... =P

French beans and long beans are his favorite! Good job hun! These are the easiest vege to settle and I love cooking them... less than 10mins of preparing, not counted the soaking time. Ha!

Kangkung is also another tedious job, that's why I stop recommending to him, only when we dine in the restaurant/mamak. Kangkung with belacan is a must! But after I read the story of leech build their wonder home in the hole of the stem, I totally stopped eating this vege. Scary enuff when come to think about it...

Next ....... celery! If you want more salary, eat this vege and be blessed! Hahaha.... He's ok ok only la with this vege, not that super likey tho because of the strong "salary" smell. He should love it rite... because it's $$$ smell. Lol...

Leek! He's ultimately in love with this vege, especially when you stir fry with meat and add some soy sauce for the fragrant. And yet, it's another easy vege to handle! Ma fan part is only the slicing .... ;P

Next, this is known as "Rabbit's Vege" to Justin.... this was so funny because I used to give this vege to my rabbits and he actually asked me, "Not rabbit eat wan meh?" Hahaa... so cute of him. Slowly, he accepted this vege and kudos! =)

Wohooooo ~ The scary vege hops in! When I first introduced this vege, the marinated chicken breast is 70% of the vege... only 30% of broccoli and well, he accepted it positively because of the proportion between the meat and vege. Yeapppiee! I'm successful! And this vege is really rich in vitamin...

FinallY!!! This is what I wanted him to try and I'm still working hard on it because he said "the "bulu-bulu" on top of this vege makes my tongue geli/"ngiau-ngiau"".. Seriously, I can't stop laughing when he said the bulu bulu vege makes him geli. Haha...

So, that's all about my mighty man's progress on swallowing veges! Haha.... Kudos to him, at least all the veges that I introduce and he accepts are those that does not require hardwork washing/cleaning/cutting.... =D

Sigh ... Sad News!

Sigh ... I woke up this morning and saw my Blog became like this! The previous Italianese chef style blog template was nice but too bad, it didn't last for a year.
No choice, while looking for a more suitable blog theme for this year, this shall be the replacement for the moment. And not only that, all my favorite blog links are gone too and I have to search in google based on my memory and to tag them one by one again. Huge SIGH!

Sad Friday =(

Be Faithful and Remain Faithful

Be faithful and remain faithful... that will be the phrase of the day! Such a powerful phrase to meditate on because faithfulness is always the key to success in Life. In life, there is no perfectness and many times, troubles will come your way but at such situation, do not walk away from God but remain faithful, go towards Him as He is always the problem resolver.

Many times, during troubles we always have this in mind "I serve God, but there is still trouble" or "Why God allow this incident happened to me. Why should I serve Him again?" or "Trouble is always here, better no need to trust God la, stay alone better." Well, if you choose to listen to all these voices, then for sure your life will not be any better.

Why does God allows trouble/problems in your life? At times, when God spoke gently, you won't listen. God gave warning 1,2,3.. etc and 1,2,3 chances but still no signs of obedience. And you only start to realize your mistake when you received a HUGE painful "smack"! Then, why question God? But, it's never too late to ask for forgiveness.

Secondly, remember your prayers. "God, mold me into the person you want me to be" This is a powerful prayer because if you want to be a better YOU, life is not as sweet as honey. You need to go through circumstances and once you conquered the problems in life, amazingly, you are a better YOU! You are upgraded to the next level! And that was what you prayed for last time! And you will be surprised that you actually can do that! For God says, "You are made more than conquerors!" and "I can do ALL things thru Christ who strengthens me!".

Thirdly, all circumstances that you have gone through, it is not to harm you but to build you. God knows our limitations and He will not give you a massive "task" if He knows your level of capabilities/abilities/limitations is not up to that level. The task that He gave you, is always the task that He knows you can ACHIEVE/OVERCOME IT! Take the step of faith, conquer the problem and yes, you will succeed! Sometimes it just take the final step to success and it will be such a waste if you decided to give up when it is just the final step of decision.

Fourthly, be faithful and remain faithful. God's promise of land of milk and honey will be yours when you stay faithful to Him.

Deuteronomy 11:13-15

13 So if you faithfully obey the commands I am giving you today—to love the LORD your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul— 14 then I will send rain on your land in its season, both autumn and spring rains, so that you may gather in your grain, new wine and olive oil. 15 I will provide grass in the fields for your cattle, and you will eat and be satisfied.

Lord of all the earth
how You care for me
You have made me
You will save and carry me always

You are faithful
You are faithful
You are faithful
Your joy is my strength

Lord you are my God
I rely on You
I put my hope in things not seen
Your promises all true

Always you’re with me
Your hand will lift me
My trust is in your hands
Always you’re with me
Your hand will lift me
My trust is in your hands

Penang Asam Laksa + Char Kuey Teow!

It is not good when you fall sick in the land of asam laksa and char kuey teow. Sigh, I was down with fever, had two pills of panadol in the morning, fever subsided and I don't care, at least must have a bowl of each food in this trip... How can I stay in Penang but not having their local food? What a big waste! So, big bro drove us to Pasar Besar Pulau Tikus area to have these two food! Didn't let my mom know about this, otherwise... guess what will happen? Haha.... in the end, she found out also. ;p

Kedai kopi Sin Hwa... just behind the pasar besar

tauke frying char kuey teow... can't wait.

Wow!!! Yummy yummy yummy!!!! I can't find char kuey teow as good as this in KL! It's time to migrate to Penang huh? Since I like to speak hokkien in penang, feel so home even in shopping mall. Nice and cost only RM4. Can you believe? RM4 ............

And a bowl of asam laksa is a must.... min 1 bowl, if I wasn't sick that time, perhaps I could have more than 1 bowl. Kah kah kah...

Awwww... looking at this pic caused my salivary glands to generate watery soury saliva. Haha. So nice ..... I should have settled down in Penang and all my cousins, aunties, uncles, grandma, grandpa are here! Sigh .... =(

Next stop was to Cen-doi! I wonder why people in Penang always call CEN-DOI.. is like A-DOI. Instead of CEN-DOL...

Look at all the people at this cendol stall... so many of them, no proper tables and chairs to sit, everyone standing and finishing up the bowl of cendol.

There's one competitor stall just opposite this stall, but that stall not that laku. I don't know, looks more like imitation.

It's cheap, only RM1.50 for this bowl, but I still prefer the one at my hometown!

After this food trip, guess what happened? Haha..... I was down with fever and sore throat! A very bad sore throat..... at least, I fulfill my stomach's desire! Muahahahaha! XD

Restoran Korean BBQ Nak Won @ Ampang

There are varieties of Korean restaurant available in Ampang and it's not easy to choose which restaurant serves the best Korean cuisine. Mini-mini-maini-mo............. and we decided to just pick this restaurant instead. NAK WON! Hopefully we made the right choice.. let's see!

Look at the amount of side dishes.. we only tried some because the rest seems to be not ngam. What I like the most is their fried anchovies and also salad.

Ginseng Chicken Soup - RM25 ~ Longing for this Ginseng Chicken Soup.. I just can't forget the awesome ginseng chicken soup that we had in Jeju Island Korea 5 years ago. That was the best ginseng chicken soup ever!!

BBQ Pork (RM26) and BBQ chicken (RM28) Sad to say the bbq pork tastes better than the chicken. Should have just ordered two plates of BBQ pork instead.

Wrap the BBQ pork with salad....... but I don't really like. hehe. But, can you ever believe this pic? He's having raw vege! I'm amazed! I'm stunned! haha!

And this barley drink is a complimentary.. when the waiter served this drink, he mentioned that this is not for hand wash. It's to drink. LOL

This Korean barley drink is so special....

This is one of the side dish, no refill for this dish. It's nice, steam egg.... XD

And we ordered one bowl of plain rice which cost RM5.

Total bill for the day was RM92.40 including of 10% of service charge which cost RM8.40. And the boss mentioned that if we pay by cash, then there will be deduction for service charge and we only paid RM84 for the overall.

Toast Box and Wan Chai HK Tea Room @ Singapore

Everyone claimed that Singapore is famous for their chili crab and I didn't know this until I was there. Everywhere is selling chili crab, even Thai restaurant does not want to miss out that dish too. Anyway, we had enough of crabs in Msia and we won't want to mess up our fingers for crabs when we're in overseas.

Toast Box at Vivo City. This restaurant is located in Food Republic in Vivo City. Grab some bites before heading to Sentosa for Universal Studios.

Ok, and everyone claimed that chili crab is famous in SG, let's try one! Chili crab toast!! It cost about $4.90.

Honestly, I can't taste any crab meat here.. ;p Chili taste is stronger than the crabs. haha

Wan Chai Hong Kong Tea Room.
We visited this restaurant for our breakfast at Choa Chu Kang, before we headed to the Singapore Zoo.

And I ordered this. Gingko with barley with XXX soup. I'm not sure what is the XXX in English. *Sorry sorry*.. haha. It's delicious!

Dumpling soup mee

Dry Dumpling wantan mee..

Fried tofu with chicken floss! Nice!!!!

And finally my order..... baked cheese rice with salmon! Yummy!!! Next time I shall learn how to cook this.. XD It isn't really expensive in this restaurant, most of the dishes are below $10. I would suggest you eat full full here so that you don't have to grab any bites for lunch in the Zoo. You will be mad with the long queue. ;p
