Musang Durian Mille Crepe - Sugar & flour

I was browing FB the other day and suddenly came across this suggested post. OMG! I'm a durian lover and with the few thousand likes and few thousand comments on this ONE post, how can I miss such a great deal. Since the hubby wasn't around and I'm alone with the three kids, I decided to give this a shot. My kind of comfort food after two long weeks with the two toddlers and 1 baby ... all by MYSELF! 

 

 Hopefully it really lives up to its name. With so many likes and comments, it cannot go wrong right. Must be something really good. It's durian season, hence the promotion. I called the number, made an order, made payment, booked slot on 9 Aug! Till then, I seated patiently at home waiting for 9 Aug for this little baby. =D

 

It arrived on 9 Aug, around 1pm! I read a few reviews in FB said that the delivery wasn't on time and they waited for a whole long day and still haven't receive, called the courier and the courier said 1 more hour, but after 1 hour still haven't receive.. so on and so on. Thank God my order was so straightforward. I just waited at home and then the door bell rang at 1pm. Saw the Ta-Q-Bin van outside waiting. I knew it was the cake! Received it cold and ice. They freeze it so that it won't spoil after a day of traveling from JB to KL. Awesome!

 

Look at this beauty!! Couldn't wait to cut.. but it was so hard like an ice because they freeze it.

Finally, able to cut after using much force. So afraid my knife will break into half. Haha. Cut a few portions, and keep the rest back in the freezer.

This is half frozen. If you eat it like this, it tastes a lot like ice cream. I waited a while more, roughly about 20mins in room temperature and it tasted really good. But I couldn't taste if it was real musang or not, which I doubt it is. The durian is blended with the cream therefore, couldn't taste much of the durian flesh. More towards the smell only. Anyway, I still enjoy this because I've been grounded at home for two long weeks! Some dessert to keep me fresh and sane.

16 July dates

Not only full time working mom is looking forward for weekends, but stay at home moms love weekends as well. That's when we have one extra pair of hands.. and inhale some fresh air or take a break from the kitchen and eat out. It feels so refreshing to be able to at least get out from the four walls at home and explore the city.

Remember we took some photoshoots of baby Vi at Brides n Blooms (Puchong)? Last weekend we headed over again to choose photos! We purchased a coupon from Groupon for only RM29 and the package comes with 4 edited photos in soft copy and 2x4R 2X8R. Tell me now, 4 out of 60+ photos, how to choose when all the photos are so so good and pretty? It was just so hard to choose. Okay fine, if you want to top up additional photos, it will cost RM10 per photo. Or I can purchase all the photos (roughly about 150+ over photos), for RM450! Definitely a no-no to purchase all the photos. The husband is not going to agree. And some photos are repeated, I don't need to own all. A few different poses will do.  

 

We were late for the appointment because it was raining cats and dogs outside. So, we decided to leave the kids in the car with Justin while I quickly go up and choose the photos. I wish it wasn't raining and everyone can tag along.

 

These gowns are so so pretty! I have this idea to sign up for another wedding photoshoot package (gonna look for cheap package on groupon, again) on our 10th anniversary. I think it would be fun... to look back how far we have come along after 10 years of marriage. 

 

 I couldn't resist, but to add on this additional piece. I wanted to add a few more but I was afraid the hubby is gonna kill me! Haha. Little did I know, when I told him in the car that most of the photos are so so pretty and it only cost RM10 per piece, he actually asked if I did add any extra and purchased those photos since we had took so much trouble and time to go all the way for the 2 days photoshoot. I said no, I only added one photo. HUHH? Only one? Why you didn't add a few more? My hubby is an unpredictable man. Whenever I think he doesn't approve, the outcome is always the opposite, he approves. But whenever I think he is ok with something, after discussion with him, he said not worth. Lol. 

After choosing all the photos, it was already 3pm and we decided to head to the mall for early dinner. I went straight to the nursing room to nurse baby Vi. It's a little difficult to nurse her in public nowadays because she distracted easily when she hears noises. She will be latching and unlatching whenever she hears some noise. It was much easier to nurse her in public when she was younger (less kei po chi, hehehe). After nursing her, I changed her diaper and yess... mommy and baby window shopping time, while the two older kids hanged out with daddy at the toy's shop. I hopped in and out of the shops. It feels so good to even get to "cuci mata" with all the latest trend and new arrivals of clothes. Window shopping might be so boring for her that she zzzzz off in her stroller. 

Nothing much to buy, I only look for clothes labeled with 50% discounts. Unfortunately most of them ran out of stock. Left with either too small or too big.We then had early dinner, as early as 5pm. Sushi Zanmai was the call for the day.

 

Yummy yummy sushi.. I just love sushi zanmai and can never get bored of their sushi.

 

The hubby ordered this tofu hotplate. First time trying this and again, Sushi Zanmai never disappoint us. I guess everything in the menu are good. 

After finishing our dinner, our tummy is calling out for desserts! We shall end our Saturdate with a nice dessert. We walked around the mall and came across this new dessert restaurant, Madame Waffle. The menu looks interesting, it was quite crowded as well and we decided to give it a try.

 The green tea lover hubby decided to try this, which cost us RM30. *rolling eyes* 

And the berries lover (me) chose Blueberry cream cheese waffle which cost RM10.50. Guess what? Turn our mine is nicer than his. Haha.

And that pretty summarizes our Saturdate. 

And on Sunday, we brought baby Vi into the church auditorium for the first time! Usually I will be hanging out with her and few other fellow mommies in the nursery, but yesterday I decided to bring her inside the main hall. I prayed that she won't fuss during the service. She did cry a while during the praise and worship because the drums were too loud, but after some cuddles, she slept and woke up when the preaching started. Baby Vi needs some spiritual food is it? She woke up automatically when Ps Troy went up the stage. She didn't fuss, I continued to carry her until the few last minutes, she started to get a bit reckless. Thank God, the sermon was about to end and yeay.. we did it! Well done baby Vi, more Sundays to come. I would rather go into the hall with her than be in the nursery. =D

Look at our happy baby when the church service ended. I hope every Sunday she's like this so that I can enjoy my Sunday service in the hall.

And look! Who's in the kitchen? The hubby took over the kitchen's job for dinner and he cooked up a storm. Grilled salmon with boiled broccoli and mashed potatoes. He's my western hubby because he always love western food.

I love it whenever he steps into the kitchen. That pretty means I get some much needed rest and I don't have to crack my head to think what to cook. This meal is so hearty.. so much love in the plate. 

By far, this is my longest post? Haha. Thank you for reading if you do ... I just love weekends and counting down for the coming weekend, though today is only Monday. Hehe. Goodbye weekends, see you soon! 

Huang Chang Chicken Rice Restaurant @ Malacca

Ever since we found out about this restaurant, we hardly step into any chicken rice balls restaurants in Jonker street. We prefer the chicken rice balls here, less hectic, less traffic... I wouldn't say less queue because if you're there during the weekends and peak hours a.k.a lunch time, you need to queue up as well. We arrived Malacca about 11am and we had our early breakfast here, the chicken rice balls. There was no queue at all but the restaurant is almost full house. Service is good, fast and efficient. Most importantly, it's so much cheaper compare to the ones at Jonker.

The crowd as early as 11am. If possible, be there early and you don't have to queue. 

Our brunch for the day, 25 chicken rice balls + half chicken + 2 barley drinks for only RM20!! 

So cheap! Our tummy were so full and satisfied ... Happy tummy for the day!

Restoran Kali Little Restaurant @ Klang

Kali Little Restaurant is located in Klang, directly next to a Chinese temple. It's pretty easy to find the way there by using the waze app. This restaurant is just next to restaurant four star. We reached there about 8pm and it was packed! Full house! We waited for about 10-15mins for a table. So, if you plan to dine here, be early. 6pm is good. Not only that, the bad news was that they ran out of stock for crabs! How can a seafood dinner be complete without crabs? =(

Stir-fried pea sprout (dou miao) with garlic

 The ran out of lala as well, so no lala bee hoon for the day. They changed to small prawns instead. 

 Salted egg sotong. This was so good!

 We saw many tables ordered this claypot fish and decided to give it a try. But I don't think we will want to order the second time. Nothing special about this dish (different people might have different taste buds tho)

 Salt-baked prawns. The prawns were so fresh that a simple salt-baked can be so delicious.

 

 Again, we read in blogs that this is a must order. Almost every blogs that blog about this restaurant promote this dish. But I still think it's a little too dry, we prefer something like char siew that has some gravy coated around the meat.

The bill of the day for 4 adults.

We will definitely go back again for the big fatty crabs that we have missed, and at least we know what we should order the next round. 

The best Assam Laksa at Sungai Ara Penang

Do you know that any food under the big tree is always authentic and delicious? We found a superbly delicious assam laksa at Sungai Ara, opposite a row of houses. It's along Jalan Dato Ismail Hashim, Sungai Ara, 11900, Bayan Lepas, Penang. A few meters away from Fisherman’s Grill and adjacent to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sungai Ara.

 This stall is sometimes operated by two young men as well. And check out the way they pack your laksa soup. It seems like some sort of kungfu.So skillful!

 

 We went there during working days and we were their first customer. But soon after we left, the place was full house. 

Yumm!! Looking at this picture again made me salivate. The soup is thick and rich that I finished off everything. =D

Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul @ Queensbay Mall

With kids, it's pretty hard to go all the way to the street for the famous Penang cendol. Thinking of the trouble to find parking under the hot weather, we decided to just go to Queensbay Mall for the well-known Teochew Chendul. Though it was not as good as the street food, we did enjoy our dessert. The price was way cheaper compare to KL branch.

 

 

This is a good alternative if you're craving for a bowl of cendol and yet you do not want to trouble yourself finding parking and queuing up. But, I still prefer Sitiawan cendol. The best among all . =D

Ipoh Hor Fun at Kedai Makanan Loke Wooi Kee

It was school holidays and we were heading up to the north. We woke the kids up as early as 5am so that after drinking milk, they will continue to sleep in the car for another 2-3 hours, depends on how long they can sleep. The clock ticked 7am and we were reaching Ipoh tol soon. Our stomach was growling asking to be filled with glorious food. We decided to stop at Ipoh for breakfast, and what came through our mind was Ipoh Kai See Hor Fun! We searched through blogs after blogs for recommendations and we finally decided to stop at the one recommended by Vkeong.

 Look at the generous shredded chicken and prawns. This place is definitely worth the trip! Heavenly delicious! My hubby gobbled down two bowls. It was that yummy. The Ipoh coffee was also authentic. Definitely must order when you're in Ipoh. We can't wait to go up North again for the next round of food hunting.

Restoran Makko @ Malacca

Makko Restaurant is easier to go compare to Amy Nyonya Restaurant. There are few signboards from Jonker street leading to this restaurant. Price is also almost the same, and the food is good as well. I love nyonya food!

Overall, the food here is good. Not as over rated as the food in jonker street. Looks like food in nyonya restaurant is more appetizing than food in jonker street nowadays. So, forget about jonker street, the over happening place in Malacca, the only thing you can consider in JS is the night market. But, having Ashlynn around with us, night market is a no-no place for babies, over crowded. =/

Restoran Nyonya Amy @ Malacca

One unforgettable memory about dining in Nyonya Amy was that we circled Malacca city for almost 30mins just to get to this restaurant. I almost gave up the plan to dine here but Mr hubby was so persistent, he said "Let's give a last try, if we still lost our way, we go to Makko Restaurant." God has been good to him, he managed to find this restaurant after calling the restaurant owner twice (and the owner eventually hung up the phone call after he found us super irritating I guess? Haha), turning around Malacca city for mins and then with his google map on the phone screen! The food better be good after these much of hassles. =/

The food is all ok, better than jonker street. At least we get to taste some authentic nyonya food, the real nyonya food. And this restaurant actually came out in the newspaper before! So, if you happen to drive through the town of Malacca, hop on to this restaurant. Beware, you might get lost like me, or perhaps you could do better than me. =D The price not that expensive, we paid about RM40+ for these three dishes. Can you get this price in KL? Definitely no! 

I miss Malacca!
