Claypot Chicken Rice without Claypot!

Sounds a bit funny with the caption, should have just removed the Claypot word in front instead of putting without claypot at the end. But, what I'm trying to say is that I'm attempting to cook "Nga Po Kai Fan" without the use of claypot. I used my forever-faithful-rice-cooker instead!

Ingredients:
- small onions, garlic, ginger
- chicken/pork; cut into cubes
- mushrooms ... I put more because I love mushrooms!
- soy sauce, dark soy sauce, salt, pepper, sesame oil, (oyster sauce if you want)

Steps :
1) Marinade the chicken/pork cubes with soy sauce, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, pepper, and chopped ginger. Leave it for 30 mins.
2) Fry small onions and garlic until fragrant. Add the marinated chicken/pork cubes and mushrooms and stir fry until 90% cook.
3) Wash rice and measure the water level using rice cooker (just like how you cook rice), and then scoop out the rice and stir fry together with the chicken. Mix everything and then pour the mixture into the rice cooker that contains the water that you've measured just now.
4) Cook it!! And Kao Tim!!

Yummy!! It was perfect! Not too dry nor too wet....

All I can say is that this dish was superb and I should have cooked more!!! Added up with my hometown's cili padi as the side dish........... perfecto!!!!!!!!!! Try it at home... the easiest steps yet so delicious! =D

Just Heavenly Choc and Cheese Cake

Just Heavenly cake is seriously good.... I don't mind spending a few ringgit extra for these whole cake instead of getting the common secret recipe cakes. Unbeatable .... We bought this cake for my MIL's birthday and I was having a headache to choose which cake is the best choice and trying to imagine her taste buds. I know she likes tiramisu but for the 9" big cake we need to place an order at least 2 days in advance. So, we left only with the Red Velvet, Choc n Cheese and Chocolate Banana to choose... Red Velvet is kinda scary for me because the inside is so red and I can't imagine I'm eating 9" coloring cake.. so this is out. The next recommendation by the waiter was Choc n Cheese, which look very simple and that made me think twice. Hmmm .... finally, we bought the Choc n Cheese and hopefully it is as good as what is recommended by the person in charge.

Nice box!

Looks simple rite .. but Justin said so nice .. LOL. Can't wait to try ...

And this is how it looks at the inside.... chocolate cake coated with salted cheese. And the chocolate cake is not the normal chocolate sponge cake, but it is so soft and moist and generous in the choco flavor. The salted cheese is not that salty and it blends just well with the sweet chocolate cake. The whole outcome is salty + sweet = not so sweet. Nice combination ...

This 9" cake cost about RM88 and we had a 10% discount with a free cupcake which worth about RM9. For 6", it cost about RM68.

And this will be my next cake shop for the upcoming birthday events... =D

Homemade Bak Zhang

Homemade bak zhang is always the best because first of all, you get to customize what ingredients you like and if you prefer mushrooms, you can add more. Furthermore, you can control the fat level and not too much fat, but more meat. Nice ..... And my parents purposely came all the way down to KL just to wrap a basket full of bak zhang for me. And you call this BLESSED!! =D

The ingredients well prepared ... a lot of hardwork in preparing these. And the wrapping process is at balcony since there's not much space in condo. LOL.

My mom happily wrapping the zhang and hopefully I manage to wrap successfully when I try in the future. Can't wait to try but am still looking for the string + time. Recent weekends are all tied up with events. I got a video captured on how to wrap the zhangs.

Yummy yummy!!! So manyyyyyyyyyyy and I'm happyyyyyyyy. And they are all mine ... kekekekeke... =D

I only like the bak zhang that my mom/grandma make and not anywhere else. You'll be surprised, I NEVER buy zhang from stalls before in my entire life because they just don't taste the same...

Jojo Little Kitchen @ Subang

We both love pan mee, especially pan mee that are skillfully made and has nice elastic "pully" texture. We found that this restaurant serves good pan mee and we are both satisfied with the quality of the mee's texture. Not bad I could say.. and this could be the best that I know for the moment. The only flip side with this restaurant is that the workers don't really understand English and even Mandarin. Communication breakdown with the waiter and waitresses as they are not local.

My favorite dish ..... fried fish cake! RM6

Pork ball pan mee .... this is good! Recommended by me ... =D RM6.50 And they have two types, one is fully pork balls, the other is pork ball + meat, which is the one shown above. I would go for this... more tasty.

Fried pork pan mee .... hmmm, not as tasty as the above and looks quite plain. RM6.50

Loh Pan mee ... Still acceptable, but the best loh mee is still at damansara hokkien mee at uptown. RM6.50

Time!

How fast time flies and at this point of time, I just couldn't believe that it's already June. Half more year to go and it's scary to see how fast time flies.... sometimes you just get too busy till you don't have much time to ENJOY the day, I would say weekdays. But I like it this way... for now, I want the time to move faster! Faster! Because am so impatient.... I have lots of plans running in my head for next year and I just couldn't wait to run those plans. They are going to be so awesome! I like it when the time passed so fast on the weekdays....

See, I felt like my weekend just ended and it's Monday again.. reality is that how fast time flies that it's Wed today and tmr is Thurs and one more day of working and then it's Sat again! If you take note, 2 more weeks you will be getting paid again... that's pretty fast rite!

Yeayyy time! You're on my side this time! Move faster... faster... faster!!! *huge grins* =D

Just chicken and mushroom

This recipe seems to be so easy and I found it from Foodwishes.com. Check it out! A very good website with VIDEO to cook from scratch until done. Unfortunately, the chicken breast that I bought is without skin... so it was quite dry after I roasted it.

It's really a very easy meal, but I would prefer to add more water and a teaspoon of butter should be more than sufficient.

Ingredients:
Chicken breast with skin
White button mushroom
Salt, pepper
Olive Oil
Butter

Chicken porridge with meat ball

Recently the addiction is towards either fried meat ball or pork burger! So, the plan is to cook porridge to go with fried meat balls, so that it doesn't taste that dry if it were to go with rice.

Chicken Porridge

Ingredients:
1) Chicken stock
2) 1 cup of rice
3) Carrot
4) Chopped meat
5) Parsley
6) Salt and pepper to taste
7) Ginger

Steps :
1) Boil chicken bones to make the chicken stock and strain the bones from the soup.
2) Minced meat, carrot, ginger and pour everything inside the soup
3) Wash rice and dump inside
4) Add some salt and pepper to taste...
5) Lastly, add parsley. The longer you cook the porridge, the better the taste!

And here is the dish of the day!!

Ingredients:
1) 1 egg
2) Chopped onion and garlic
3) Chopped parsley
4) Minced meat
5) Soy sauce, pepper, salt
6) 1-2 tsp corn flour (depends on quantity)

Steps:
1) Minced meat, onion, garlic and parsley
2) Crack an egg and add some soy sauce, pepper, salt
3) Mix everything and add corn flour. Leave for about 30mins before frying for better taste
4) Roll into meatballs and deep fry!

Yummy ...... this meat balls taste so good when eat with porridge.. I like it!! =D
