Baby BUDS Organics, I'm a happy mommy!

Recently, I'm just crazy over Organic products, mainly on baby items. Having a baby in my arms, I love Biology/Chemistry more than before. No joke, I use Google more than I read news/youtube/Facebook. I've learn a lot from different reviews and opinions found in Google, thanks to this powerful search engine. The new era of retrieving different opinions globally. Love!

Recently, I'm so against Chemicals! The greatest enemy for the moment. I hate chemicals. I hate food preservatives. I hate food additives. Unfortunately, most of the food that we eat today contains a lot of chemicals. We can't deny it, but everyone is so smart in earning fast money until the extend to invent a fake cabbage. Not to mention the things that we use daily. My  baby is only 10 months old and how much chemicals that I've exposed to her. Ignorance from my end, I feel so bad for not believing in Organics earlier. Whenever my friend told me Go Organics, I would look at her one kind, need or not? Today, I believe a mixture of organics and non-organics will do my baby more good, instead of going all organics. Mixture! Why half-half? At least when she grows up, her digestive system will still tolerate non-organics food/products. In this case, her body is exposed to lesser chemicals since I'm going half half and not fully organics. Why I didn't choose to go fully organics? Reason behind this is... well, not anytime/anywhere we can get organic products. When she goes college, it is not easy to get organic food... *yes, I think this far*

I'm changing all her daily use products to Baby BUDS, all organics and I choose the higher end of BUDS which consists of 99.7% or 100% organics in the total ingredients. They have cheaper range of organic products but since I'm into Organics now, I would rather add a little extra to get the concentrated organic products. You can compare the differences between the higher and lower range of BUDS from the total percentage of total ingredients.
 Purchase #1
BUDS Calming Tummy Rub Cream 30ml. (RM39.90)
Bought this at RM10 only at baby fair in Midvalley when I spent RM50 and above. Original price is RM39.90. So worth it that I went back 2nd round and spent RM50 to buy the 2nd one at RM10 again. =)
 Purchase #2
BUDS EVERYDAY ORGANICS Nappy Time Change Cream 75ml (RM33.90)
Very satisfied with the end result compared to Drapolene/Johnson's/Bepanthen. After apply, you can see a layer of ointment which helps to protect the skin and keep the baby butt moist. Love this.
Purchase #3
BUDS First Aid Lotion 50ml (RM39.90)
Very good in healing the scar. I even apply on her butt if she ever gets nappy rash and it heals fast! Get one! Work well on mosquito bites as well, applied at the red swollen area and the next day, the swollen reduced.
Purchase #4
Buds Cherished Organics: Happy Baby Cream 150ml (RM45.90)
Not so fragrance compared to Johnson's/Pureen, but it is better. The nicer the smell, the more artificial ingredients/chemicals they added in.
Purchase #5
Buds Cherished Organics: Happy Baby Head to Toe Cleanser 250ml (RM39.90)
I love the ingredients, no SFS, no paraben and I've done a research in the previous post that all are natural ingredients. Let's go Green!
Purchase #6
BUDS Outdoor Organics Mozzie Clear Lotion 75ml (RM33.90)
Almost everyday she gets the evil mozzie's bites. We bought this hoping that the smell will shoo away the mozzies, but this only last 2-3 hours. You have to apply it every 2-3 hours so that the smell is always there and say bye bye to mozzies.

As for now, I'm a happy mommy. The decision is mine, and now I can stay assured that my baby got the right items in hand. No chemicals or lesser chemicals at this young ripe age. =)

I HEART organics!

Even shower gel is harmful to baby!

Recent media attention concerning chemicals in baby products has caused much concern and alarm. Many of the baby products that we know, love, and have used for many years contain cancer-causing (carcinogenic) chemicals, specifically, 1,4-dioxane and formaldehyde. In addition to these two harmful chemicals, parents have to worry about the presence of phthalates and parabens in their personal care products as well as their baby's.

I've done a powerful research on the ingredients in those normal baby shower gel and I'm "amazed" at the ingredients. If you read up in the net, these are the top ingredients that you MUST avoid.

Other top ingredients to avoid are:
  • Nitrosamine.
  • Parabens.
  • Phtalates.
  • Hydroquinone.
  • Sodium Laureth Sulfate or SLES
  • PEGs
  • Fragrance
  • Salicylic Acid
Sigh, if only I knew this earlier, I would avoid it and go for Organics. Pay extra for a better health is worth it. At least the money goes to the right thing, instead of shopping for my clothes/shoes.
Her shower gel (Pureen Yoghurt), baby lotion (Johnson's), baby wipes (Pureen/Pigeon/Anakku) and diaper cream (Johnson's/Drapolene) all contain at least one of the harmful ingredients. =(

Happy Baby Head to Toe Cleanser 250ml RM39.90
After the awareness, immediately I went to Parkson and grab all the baby organic products for my baby. From head to toe, from shower gel to lotion to baby balm to nappy balm.. I bought a complete set of baby BUDS products. I researched the ingredients listed and I'm happy that I made the right choice, even though I spent RM270 for all the items (most of them I bought 2 sets)

Checkout the research that I've done below. All are safe ingredients and made from plants/herbs.

LIMONENE
Limonene is a chemical found in the peels of citrus fruits and in other plants. It is used to make medicine.

Linalool
Linalool is a chemical derived from flower and spice plants as a naturally occurring terpene alcohol. Linalool is generally safe. However, people with eczema have a 5-7% chance of having an adverse reaction if they come in contact with Linalool.

Citronella
Citronella oil is made by steam distillation of certain species of grasses in the Cymbopogon grouping of plants. Ceylon or Lenabatu citronella oil is produced from Cymbopogon nardus, and Java or Maha Pengiri citronella oil is produced from Cymbopogon winterianus. Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) also belongs to this grouping of plants, but it is not used to make citronella oil.

Geraniol
Gardeners and herbalists have known for centuries that geraniums have insect repelling properties, and this is because their oil contains geraniol. Geraniol is now extracted and used to make commercial insect repellant, which is effective against all sorts of critters from mosquitoes, all types of flies, cockroaches and fire ants to fleas, gnats and ticks. Geraniol can be found in bergamot (an ingredient of Earl Grey tea), carrots, coriander, lavender, lemon, lime, nutmeg, orange, rose, blueberries and blackberries.

XANTHAN GUM
Xanthan gum is a sugar-like compound made by mixing aged (fermented) sugars with a certain kind of bacteria. It is used to make medicine.
In manufacturing, xanthan gum is used as a thickening and stabilizing agent in foods, toothpastes, and medicines. Xanthan gum is also an ingredient in some sustained-release pills.

Glyceryl Oleate
The ester of glycerin and oleic acid, this is an emulsifier derived from naturally occurring oils and fats. It has been deemed safe to use in cosmetics.
glyceryl oleate raises no health concern because:

Coco Glucoside
Coco Glucoside is an non-ionic surfactant that can be used as a foaming agent, conditioner or emulsifier. It is derived from renewable raw materials such as coconut oil and fruit sugars, and is completely biodegradable. It contains no diethanolamides, lauryl sulfates, laureth sulfates, parabens or formaldehyde.

Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate
This ingredient made from coconuts also acts as moisturizer and emulsifier. Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate is a very mild, gently foaming agent derived from the amino acid glutamic acid and coconut fatty acid. It is used in mild shampoos and cleansing products.

Tocopherol
The various kinds of substances labeled tocopherol or vitamin E are found in natural foods like spinach, nuts and vegetable oils. They are also present in some processed foods like breakfast cereals, where foods that were otherwise not high in vitamins are fortified with a variety of vitamins including vitamin E.

Sodium coco-glucoside tartrate
SOURCE: coconut, beet, grape
Surfactant derived from natural renewal raw materials that is mild on the skin and will not irritate the eyes.

CHOOSE ORGANICS FOR A PEACE OF MIND!
I will check the ingredients for the other baby BUDS products....... take some time, stay tuned =D

1st Birthday Planning - Part 1

This is my first time planning for a baby's party and excitement is all over me, from head to toe. For the past few months, I've been searching and google-ing high and low on decoration, venue, theme and etc. I'm running out of time, with only 2 months left for booking, ordering and preparing.

Checklist:
1) Venue
We listed out few restaurants/halls in mind, and we almost get there. Waiting for quotations and if the price is reasonable, there we go! Book and Plan! If it's too pricey, the last option is MCD. Hopefully not, keep my fingers crossed, No MCD. *Sorry Aunty CL, no MCD at this young age* lol.

2) Date and Time
We decided for a lunch birthday party, a time that is more baby-friendly when your baby's energy level is still 80%.

3) Theme
Still deciding, but 90% we will go for a Princess party! We had Barney theme in mind, but the purple dinosaur doesn't look great as a whole for a birthday party, more over it's for our sweet girl. Barney lost the vote and most likely we will go with pinky purple princess party.

4) List of Guests
Almost Done! Once we decided on the venue, we will decide if we want to reduce some guests or to add on some.

5) Invitation Card
Still in the process of customizing... 10% done only. Need extra effort in this. Otherwise, the easiest way is FB invitation! The modern way of inviting guests... lol.

6) Food
The main menu is still depends on the venue of the party. But for the sweet desserts I already have some plans in mind. And I've not ordered her birthday cake yet, definitely not 3D/4D cake because it is out of my budget. I wish I'm a millionaire now ............. =(

7) Activities
Perhaps we should get a CLOWN in house? If the venue above is successful, we will book the futsal field if anyone is interested or book the playground for the kids. Hope this is gonna be a fun fun princess party! =D

That's all for the planning for now, I have many many more miles to travel before our sweet girl is officially 1. One word to summarize everything "THANKFUL". Thankful beyond words!
