3rd Maternity & Children Expo 9-11 Mac 2012

You actually wont believe me that I applied 1 day AL just for this baby fair. We expected that it will be a grand fair and we can happily shopping for the whole day. We were looking forward to purchase walker, bumbo seat, Avent steamer + blender, Whoopee XL and some baby food. Unfortunately we were let down and this fair was so small that we finished walking from booth to booth in 1.5 hours, plus minus shopping and surveying. And the culprit were these two............ thus the baby fair was only one hall.

We were a bit late on the Fri and look at the queue. And many were carrying boxes and boxes of Mamy Poko. Really tat cheap?
Register and get a goodie bag!
Mamy poko booth and they were selling:
Newborn 52 - RM28
S 48 - RM28
M44, L38, XL32, XXL28 - RM39.90

The best booth in the fair.. and we managed to grab some cheap baby wipes (RM9 for two), and some "holes holes clothes" only at RM10 per pair.
Many people digging golds... and I am one of them. Hehe
And the things that we bought from the baby fair. The "big" things that we wanted to purchase, we ended up getting them from the outside shops.
And we had a really really nice lunch at Chilli's! Just love the chicken breast grilled with portobello mushrooms. So nice!
Dessert! This is a must to order! Superbbbbb.... and double thumbs up!

Motherhood Expo 2012 at KLCC

Thank God we didn't apply half day or full day leave for this motherhood expo because it isn't any big expo that you walk till your legs break or you shop till you drop. But it was just 2 halls expo and most of the things sold there were for first time parents. I couldn't find the things that I want like a walker, bumbo seat, high chair. But Whoopee was there! We didn't get any whoopees because A already has a lot and we thought of grabbing the XLsize for her since she outgrew from the S and now moving forward to M. We decided to wait till the coming Parenthood 2012 expo in Mar to grab the XL Whoopee. Unfortunately, we set too high expectation over the Expo in Mar and there was no Whoopee booth! Sigh .... (will blog that in the next post)

These were the things that we bought and thank God, we bought it because there was no baby food booth at all during the Mar Parenthood expo. Why the baby fair was conducted in such a small scale this year? I remembered how I happily shopping last year when I was 5 mths preggie. At least we managed to grab some cheap baby food there. Otherwise, the whole night walk was just a waste of time. Hopefully the coming Mom & Baby expo in May will really be a BIG BIG one!

Where to get the cheapest Bumbo Seat in KL?

I've been asking this question many many times. Where to get the cheapest bumbo seat. We were so keen to get one for Ashlynn because we tried putting her on one of my fren kid's bumbo seat and she was able to sit firmly, without swaying left and right. It works much better than me holding her in upright position. This Bumbo really did a great job by providing a snug and cozy environment. Furthermore, it is highly recommended by many Pediatric and Orthopedic Faculties because it is uniquely designed according to the baby's posture to seat babies independently in an upright sitting position.

Mothercare selling RM199 for the seat alone and RM49.50 for the play tray. We were considering to buy or not to buy and in the end, we didn't buy. We couldn't find anywhere else selling this, even in shopping mall. See how limited the stocks availability. We went to Motherhood and Parenthood expo the other day hoping to hunt for one, unfortunately, we couldn't find any booths selling bumbo seat. Big Sigh!

In the end, we decided to look for a 2nd hand because of the price. We drove home with disappointment. I was not satisfied, so while Justin driving, I checked online baby stores, hopefully we found somewhere selling with good discounts.

And we hopped on to myBBstore.com. We were overjoyed when we saw the price. RM199 for seat + play tray! Ain't this a better deal?

Most of the online stores selling RM199 for seat only. Not sure if there's any cheaper outlets out there, but this was the cheapest that we managed to find. *you can find cheaper price at amazon.com*

And finally, we owned the Bumbo Seat after struggling for 1 month, buy or don't buy. We were so glad that we purchase this seat... when you look at her snuggling in her seat with a proper back support and enjoying herself beating the play tray creating some rhythm. She just loves it!

Why Bumbo?
The Bumbo is manufactured to the highest safety standards from low-density foam material, which makes it lightweight and portable. It is soft and comfortable for the baby, safe, hygienic and non-toxic. The integral outer skin of the material is durable and easy to clean.

The Bumbo Baby Sitter is versatile and can be used safely and conveniently anywhere on any level surface, and is definitely the extra set of hands you have always been looking for the perfect gift for that special occasion.

The seat does not require any uncomfortable straps or fasteners. It gives a wonderfully new way to ensure maximum interaction and enjoyable communication with your child. Depending upon the individual development of the child, some babies will be able to climb out of the bumbo, so never leave your child unattended.

22 Weeks

Date : 29 February 2012

How far along : 22 weeks

Weight : 6.5kg

Height : 64cm

Sleep : Well, she has unpredictable sleep patterns. Sometimes she can fall asleep on her own, sometimes she needs a cuddle, sometimes she needs you to be the rocker... but best of all, she does NOT cry before sleep. Thank God for it!

Food :
We decided to get the Philips steam + blend blender and we will start off with apple puree. Can't wait to try it on her and capture her first facial expression eating some semi-solid food. Hehe... And yes, she's still on EBM! Yeay!!

Talking about breastmilk, we had a scare that the supply will wean off anytime soon because of the lack of time to pump and I was sick for few days the last week. The supply dropped to half and this was a drastic change. I tried many ways to boost up the supply but with no success. I tried latch on as many times as possible, pump 1 hour on one side, drink Fenugreek.. but no, it was not improving. Finally, I decided to cook fish soup and drink HL milk everyday. Voila, we hit the jackpot!

Lesson learnt, to help with milk production.
1) Don't be negative. When I was sick, I wish I had already stopped BF because I had no energy to get up and pump. I left it to engorge and wait till I really couldn't bear the pain, and then I get up and pump. From this, the supply drop drastically even with only 3 days of not pumping on time and also, I was so sick that I kept telling myself to stop BF. Talk about the power of mind!
2) Eat proper meal and drink lots of fluid. Since I started the late shift and I have to walk to the train station, at the end of the day, I'm already flat. I don't really care about what I eat, I can eat bread for dinner or sometimes a simple mee soup which does not contains any protein, calcium or whatever nutrients. So, the milk supply drop because I didn't eat well and neither did I drink any milk/enough of fluid.
3) Smile. A happy mommy produces quality breastmilk. Stress can negatively affect milk production. What I decided to do for now, close one eye and ignore unnecessary chores, relax my standards for tidiness, sit down and close my eyes for a moment or two!

The best prescription for maximum milk production is effective and frequent breastfeeding or milk expression, plenty of fluids, adequate calories and rest.

Best moment this week :
She chuckles more often. She can sit up with support and lift up her head. She's getting louder with her hoo haa. She gets frustrated easily with her toys. Whenever you see me, you will see Ashlynn except during work. She's more clingy to me and her daddy. She's going through another phase of emotional milestones. Nobody can carry her, else she will scream to the top of her lungs. It's pretty normal for baby at this age to start fearing strangers.

Your 5-month-old baby might start fearing strangers
By month five, most babies have developed an awareness and recognition of key people around them. But they also might have a mistrust and fear of those who are not familiar. Although this fear goes away with time and is nothing to worry about, it usually helps to slowly introduce your baby to new people.

5-month-old baby developmental milestones
Every baby develops at a different pace. This is normal. But in general, by the end of the fifth month, your baby will likely be able to:
  •     Sit with support
  •     Transfer objects from one hand to another
  •     Make two-syllable sounds, such as "ah-goo"
  •     Give "raspberries" — make a razzing sound with his lips

Everyone is the smartest!

Everyone always think they are smarter than the others. They are better than the government. They can rule the world better than the king. They can be a better manager. They are the best judge in the world. Or they are the coolest mom/dad in the world. So, when people always think they are better than the others, they walk with pride. They walk with their tails lifted high. They float in the air. They fly higher than the plane. They open their mouth and throw out "inspirations". They give you "ideas". They give you "instructions". They give you a "kiss" on your cheeks. They spit out whatever that they can and hammer you with "ideas" when they themselves are not in your shoes.

I've heard a lot, and it's enough because I've heard the same thing over and over again. In 1 month, I hear it 100 times. You call me stubborn or whatever that you want, but first of all, you are not in my socks and shoes, why do you ever think your "ideas' work? I might have tried your "ideas" but it just doesn't work for me. It works for others BUT it doesn't fit in my situation. And why are you forcing me to die with your way? I've heard a lot of comments "You overfeed your baby" "Why your baby bigger" "Bring baby out more often" "Blast the music, let baby get used to it" .... the why what how where became EXTREMELY annoying.

Do you know that when a person is worn out physically, they will be emotionally unstable. I don't blame it on hormones. I'm still learning to balance up my outward and inward man. At least when I'm weak outside, I'm strong in the inside. I can stand judgment, I can stand comments, I can stand repetitive advices...

But, seriously, I can't stand it when people started throwing bombastic words on my baby/family. If you do it right in front of me, I'm gonna make your tongue bleed! Can't you just watch over your mouth and say some pleasing sweet words? Or are you jealous when we are doing better than you? Don't you ever dare to step on my head and point fingers on my family. If you have nothing BETTER or SWEETER to say, don't say. Silence is Gold.

That's all for the message for today! Have a nice day!
