The Power of List - 2007
by Pastor Kevin Loo, City Harvest Church KL
Habakkuk 2:2
Then the LORD answered me and said:
“ Write the vision
And make it plain on tablets,
That he may run who reads it."
Matthew 7:24
24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”
The wise man builds his house upon the rock but the foolish on the sand. This is the rock of learning from the past mistakes and building on our strength. People who build on a solid foundation and work on their weaknesses is wise. They learn from their mistakes to make sure that they do not fall into the same trap again. But the fool cares nothing of this. Their aim is to satisfy their immediate desire, though it may not be of any important at all. Friends, let us not be like the fool. Let us be wise.
It doesn't matter how you start your year, but it does matter how you end your year. Be overcomers by year 2008. The future is like a piece of blank paper. God has given us the paint of faith to draw the future we desire to see. If we are doing it right within the will of God, He would definitely prosper us. He would even help us paint a better tomorrow.
But what is this thing with new year resolutions? Is it really necessary? Why do people go list-crazy at the end of every year?
1. God made us to do it.
2. It is us who write it.
1. Write down a list regarding everything you lead and manage.
2. Write lists of those things you need to do, then do them, one by one.
3. Write down the list of follow-up things you need to do.
4. Put the most important one at the top. Not everything urgent is important.
5. Do first things first, last things last!
6. Write down your vision list- for this year, for the next 10 years and for your life.
Psalm 37:2323
The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD,
And He delights in his way.
We must plan and let the LORD directs.
7. Write down your goals for today, this week and this year.
8. Write down your plans and strategies.
9. Tick them off as you do them.
10. List is simple, but amazingly powerful!

1. God made us to do it.
2. It is us who write it.
- Your list pretty much determines your life and your priority.
- Our lists give us that sense of identity and that sense of achievement.
- Our lists tell us how we have spent our life and how much time we have left.
- It is solely for the purpose of comparison and competition so that we do better next year.
1. Write down a list regarding everything you lead and manage.
2. Write lists of those things you need to do, then do them, one by one.
