Baby V and Jaundice

This jaundice has been taking a toll on me. No matter how many N babies you had before this newborn, and no matter how much experiences you had with your previous babies, you just couldn't stop worrying with all the little things that pop up.

Baby V's jaundice is quite high. When she was discharged on the 2nd day, her BL level was 156. And 2 days later, on the 4th day, her BL went up to 289. She was admitted to the hospital for 2 nights for phototherapy. And after 1 night of phototherapy, it went down to 239. And the Dr was happy with the result. So one more night of phototherapy and the BL went down a little, to 224. Baby V was discharged the next morning. The Dr told us not to worry and keep monitoring her, and bring her back for check if we notice she's quite yellow.

2 weeks later, for a peace of mind, we brought her back to the hospital to check what is her current level. We notice that she was quite yellow and there was only slight improvement. Hence, we decided to just check to ease all the worries. This time, we brought her to the hospital near our home and the Dr took her blood and urine sample to check if all is OK. Looking at baby's skin, he said he was pretty sure the BL is about 200+. True enough, her BL level is still quite high at the level of 266. But all other test seems to be ok, the liver function is good and so on. And the Dr confirmed that she had breastmilk jaundice which takes at least 1-2 mths to subside.

Sigh, even today when I look at her, I can still see that she was quite yellow, especially when I press on her skin. Just pray and hope that her jaundice will go down as soon as possible. And her liver is alright.
